From cove to cove along the clifftops

The trail from Cabo de Palos to Cala Reona follows the coastline from the village to Cala Reona, on the edge of Calblanque. It links coves and small beaches along cliffs, with Mediterráneo on one side and the lighthouse behind you, and is freely accessible at any time.

Coves along the way

Leaving the village, the route passes these coves and beaches before reaching Cala Reona:

  • Playa de Levante
  • Cala de la Galera
  • Cala Túnez and Cala Fría
  • Cala Botella (or Cala Mayor) and the Barra bathing area
  • Cala Medina and Cala Flores
  • Playa del Descargador

Difficulty and precautions

The ground is uneven and in places runs right along the edge of the cliff. So wear closed shoes and go in good weather and in daylight. It is not suitable for wheelchairs.

Where to start

You can start on the Paseo de la Barra, by the port, or at Cala Medina. Several coves have steps down to the water, so it's worth bringing a swimsuit in summer. If you want more coast, have a look at other places of interest in the area.
