Fishing boats, pontoons and restaurants around the harbour basin

The Puerto de Cabo de Palos is the village's marina and fishing port, on the explanada del Puerto, in the heart of the town and a stone's throw from La Manga del Mar Menor. Restaurants, terraces and dive centres cluster around its small basin.

What the harbour is like

It is managed by the Regional Government of Murcia and was built in the shelter of the cape itself. These are its basic facts:

  • about 170 leisure berths, plus berths for diving centres and charter boats
  • five floating pontoons for leisure boats
  • an eastern area reserved for fishing boats

Things to do at the harbour

You can stroll among the boats and have lunch or dinner in the restaurants and cafés overlooking the basin. The moored fishing boats are a reminder that people still fish here.

It is also the local starting point for diving: every day, dive centre boats leave here for the Cabo de Palos e Islas Hormigas marine reserve.

Getting here

The harbour is in the village centre, so you can walk there from anywhere in Cabo de Palos. The promenade is public and freely accessible at any time, and the path up to the lighthouse is very close. To plan a route around the area, take a look at what to visit in La Manga and nearby.
