Unspoilt beaches and trails south of Mar Menor

The Parque Regional de Calblanque, Monte de las Cenizas y Peña del Águila is the protected area covering the coast south of the Mar Menor, spanning the municipalities of Cartagena and La Unión, very close to Cabo de Palos and La Manga. It is known for its undeveloped beaches, its fossil dunes and a network of trails with views of the sea and the hills.

Beaches without facilities

They are natural beaches: there are no lifeguards, beach bars or bins. Bring an umbrella, water and sun cream, and take all your rubbish home.

Getting here by car and bus

In summer, car access is restricted and a shuttle bus runs from the Los Belones car park. Dates and fares change every year and are published at murcianatural.carm.es. Inside the park there are car parks, one at the entrance and another closer to the sea, such as El Atochar.

Routes, dunes and tips

Away from the sand, the park is explored along waymarked trails with information panels, among fossil dunes, salt pans with birds and semi-arid vegetation. The Las Cobaticas visitor centre has information and an exhibition about the area. There are more places like this in beaches and places of interest.
